Spotify is currently looking into a widespread bug that prevents saved tracks from loading inside partner DJ software. The issue has essentially broken the streaming integration for users across Serato, Rekordbox, and djay Pro right in the middle of a busy gig season.
Users first started reporting empty playlists around May 12. According to a thread in the r/Serato subreddit, DJs can see their playlist folders, but clicking into them reveals zero playable tracks.
The OP said the software repeatedly forces them to go through the linking process again, only to fail moments later. The bug persists regardless of whether a user is on Windows or a Mac.
A Pioneer DJ support rep confirmed on the company’s forums that they are fielding a massive volume of complaints. They are in direct contact with Spotify to track down a fix.
In another thread on r/DJs, frustrated users pointed out that local files are the only safe bet for now. So, as you might expect, the situation is pretty bad for anyone who has fully migrated to cloud libraries instead of downloading tracks to a hard drive.
We also spotted similar complaints about the issue spilling over into Facebook groups. Members of the Official Serato DJ Group and Algoriddim DJay Pro users noted the blank screens, with some members threatening to sell their controllers entirely.
A forum moderator on the Spotify Community page officially marked the bug as under investigation over the weekend. They noted the internal team is actively looking into why the tracks are missing.
Spotify originally launched this third-party DJ integration back in September 2025. It allowed Premium subscribers in 51 markets to stream the entire catalog directly through mixing platforms.
Some users have figured out a weird temporary workaround. A few commenters claimed that upgrading to a Spotify Duo or Family plan and creating a fresh profile forces the playlists to populate properly.
Others are quietly moving their sets over to competing services like Tidal or SoundCloud just to survive their upcoming weekend shows.
We’ll keep a close eye on the situation and will update the article accordingly.
In other Spotify news, the platform recently discontinued the “Viral charts” feature. We covered all the details here.
