Update 15/05/26 – 04:56 pm (IST): The outage seems to be more widespread than initially thought. A thread on Reddit is currently flooded with user reports from all across the US — including Texas, New York, California, Ohio, Colorado, and Florida.

Users are noting that the app is throwing a “There was a problem connecting to the Nest service” error message. The OP even shared a screenshot of the app.

The status page, however, still hasn’t been update to reflect the ongoing outage.

Google Nest appears to be facing an outage for some users right now, with Downdetector logging close to 200 reports in a short span.

Data from the outage tracker shows reports jumping to around 197 at peak, after staying flat for most of the day.

That said, at the time of this writing, there’s not a lot of chatter elsewhere. We spotted a couple of reports about issues with Google Nest pop up on X. Users there claim Nest services are down at the moment.

So far, Google hasn’t said anything publicly about a disruption. The official Nest status page shows everything is functioning as usual.

It’s still early, and with most of the signal coming from Downdetector, this could either fizzle out or turn into something bigger. For now, if your Nest devices or app aren’t responding, you’re likely not alone.
