Update 19/05/26 – 09:03 am (IST): A new clue may have surfaced regarding XChat’s Android app. X user Swak spotted references to com.x.chat and com.x.chat.debug inside the latest X Android beta (11.92.0-beta.0), specifically within the app’s AndroidManifest file.
A reference related to @chat android has been spotted on the latest android beta 11.92.0-beta.0. According to the packages added to the android manifest file, the package name of XChat android app might be* https://t.co/ejhLEvU8PD https://t.co/xdVgyTeonh pic.twitter.com/T7rkFpR1gE

This is interesting because earlier signs pointed to a possible package name of com.xchat.android. While nothing is official yet, the newly added manifest entries suggest X may still be actively developing or testing the Android version of XChat behind the scenes.
Original article published on May 15, 2026, follows:
XChat may be heading to Android, after an X user spotted what looks like a Google Play listing for the app. The detail shared on X points to an Android package name, com.xchat.android, and a last known update date of April 15, 2026, even though the Play Store listing still isn’t publicly accessible.
In case you missed it, XChat only recently started rolling out on iPhone, after a delay that pushed its launch back from the original April 17 target to April 23, before it finally went live on April 24.
The Android appearance suggests X may already be preparing a wider push for its standalone messaging app. But for now, this is still just a signpost, not a full release. The listing hasn’t opened up to users yet, and X has not publicly said when Android availability will begin.
That said, the timing makes sense. X has been slowly moving XChat from rumor to reality, and the iPhone launch showed the company was serious about getting the app out the door, even if the rollout took a little longer than expected. Android now looks like the next obvious step.
It’s still too early to tell if Musk’s XChat app will actually be able to take on behemoths like WhatsApp and Telegram, or even privacy-focused alternatives like Signal.
XChat still only has 41 ratings on the App Store with a measly 3.4 stars. In comparison, Signal, the app that Musk wants to go up against with XChat, has sixty-seven thousand ratings and 4.6 stars.
xAI (X Corp.) itself has not yet revealed any details about the availability of XChat on Android. So we’ll just have to wait and see when the app arrives.
