OnePlus phones are quietly disappearing from Best Buy store shelves across parts of the United States, according to multiple users in a Reddit thread on r/oneplus. The display models are gone, and in at least some stores, the shelf space has already been filled by Nothing phones.

The OP noted that a local Best Buy had removed the OnePlus 15 and 15R display units entirely. Someone else in the Midwest said the same thing happened over two weeks ago at their store. A user in SoCal said their Best Buy had a 15R on display, but it wasn’t even powered on.

Notably, the phones still appear to be listed for online purchase on Best Buy’s website. So this isn’t a full retail break, at least not yet.

Still, in-store display removal is a pretty concrete signal. For any phone brand that isn’t Apple or Samsung, shelf placement at Best Buy is often the difference between getting noticed and being invisible to the average US buyer. OnePlus was never great at in-store visibility to begin with.

Earlier Reddit discussions have documented shoddy displays, missing demo units, and outdated price tags going back years.

That said, this comes just weeks after PCMag reported that OnePlus told them: “OnePlus North America is evaluating its regional roadmap and product strategy. All users’ after-sales support, software updates, and rights commitments are fully guaranteed.” That statement stopped short of saying anything about future product launches or retail presence.

Meanwhile, OnePlus India CEO Robin Liu stepped down in late March and moved back to China. Around the same time, the brand announced a shift to an online-first model in India, pulling back from offline retail. OnePlus has also officially said it’s “evaluating” its future in Europe.

All of this follows a report published by Android Headlines earlier this year that claimed OnePlus was winding down operations. OnePlus publicly denied those claims, calling the piece sensationalist. Looking back, that denial is starting to look like damage control rather than the full picture.

OnePlus has not made any formal statement about its US retail strategy at the time of writing.
