Update 19/05/26 – 11:16 am (IST): Spotify has now at least formally acknowledged the latest Android beta-related glitch on its Community forum, with moderator Dessi confirming that the issue does not appear on the regular app version, still persists on the latest beta build even after a full clean reinstall, and that all user feedback has been forwarded to the relevant team for closer investigation.

This suggests Spotify is actively looking into the bug, although there is still no ETA for a fix, so affected users may want to stick to the stable Android release in the meantime.

Original article published on May 11, 2026, follows:

Spotify is currently broken for a growing number of Android users who are being greeted by a blank home screen and a stubborn “Something went wrong” error.

The bug popped up a few days ago and heavily impacts listeners on app version 9.1.46.1936. People are completely locked out of their music libraries, and their playlists show up totally empty. The glitch seems isolated entirely to the Android app. Everything works perfectly fine on desktop and the web player, according to several reports on the Spotify Community forums.

We are seeing reports coming in from users with devices like the Samsung Galaxy S25 and the Google Pixel 9 Pro XL complaining about the app becoming unusable. Both free and Premium accounts are affected.

Someone even shared a video recording of the issue on Reddit. Check it out below:

Some Android owners are seeing a slightly different pop-up warning. Their app crashes instantly with a prompt stating the app has a bug and needs an update from the developer.

Over on X, users say the app is glitching aggressively. It skips endlessly through tracks without actually playing a single song.

Standard troubleshooting is failing across the board. Clearing the app cache, deleting local data, and doing a clean reinstall does not fix the problem for most people.

In one Reddit thread, the OP said their app stopped working randomly during a commute. They tried restarting their phone and logging back in, but their liked songs vanished completely.

Creating a brand new Spotify account actually works for a few hours. But the app eventually bugs out again and throws the exact same error, making it a pretty bad long-term solution.

Luckily, there seems to be at least one proper workaround right now that might help you get your music back.

If you are enrolled in the Spotify beta program via the Google Play Store, leaving the beta seems to restore access. You just need to opt out and download the stable public release.

Samsung owners have a much more reliable option. A highly praised workaround involves deleting the Play Store version entirely and downloading the app directly from the Galaxy Store.

One Reddit user tested this exact method after being locked out of their account for a full week. A commenter claimed the Galaxy Store trick instantly brought their account back to life.

Interestingly, we found an old thread with complaints about the same issue. At the time, the issue was masked as “Solved”. However, fresh reports have started piling up on the same thread again.

A forum moderator quietly asked affected listeners to test alternate accounts on their devices to help isolate the bug.

We will keep an eye on the situation and update this page if an official patch drops. For now, you might have to rely on the web player or a third-party app store to stream your playlists if the potential workarounds shared above don’t help.
