Genshin Impact players are currently revolting against HoYoverse over poor in-game rewards, and the fallout has spilled over into mass Discord bans and a bizarre review-bombing campaign against Google Classroom.

The anger seems to have started boiling over when fans realized the latest patch rewards were severely lacking. When players took their complaints to the official Discord server, moderators allegedly started banning and muting them in droves.

Users claim that simply asking for better rewards or criticizing the developer is enough to get you kicked right now. One user said it feels like the company has activated a dictatorship mode to silence anyone who complains.

Shut out of Discord, the community moved their protest to the Google Play Store. Players flooded the app with one-star ratings, dragging the game’s overall score down to a dismal 3.0 in some regions. But that did not last long. Google Play apparently stepped in to clean up the mess.

According to multiple reports, the storefront began quietly deleting the negative reviews. Players quickly noticed the game’s rating magically shooting back up to 4.5 stars overnight. In our checks while writing this piece, we can confirm that the ratings still sit at 4.5 stars.

This aggressive moderation only poured gasoline on the fire. Feeling completely ignored by both the developer and the app store, the community resurrected a notorious protest tactic from the 2021 Genshin anniversary disaster.

They started review-bombing Google Classroom. We’re a bit puzzled by this too…

Gamers are dumping negative reviews on the app simply to stick it to Google for protecting HoYoverse. Things got so chaotic that Google Classroom allegedly banned words like “Genshin” and “Rewards” from its review section in certain regions to stop the bleeding.

The frustration mostly stems from how HoYoverse treats its flagship game compared to newer titles like Honkai: Star Rail and Zenless Zone Zero. Players claim those games get much better freebies and quality-of-life updates.

For now, the developer has not officially addressed the backlash.
