Many YouTube app users are facing a frustrating glitch where the Share and Save buttons reportedly become unresponsive.

The problem started appearing for several users in May 2026, according to some posts on Reddit. The issue affects both iOS and Android. People tap the Share or Save buttons below videos, but… nothing happens. Saving videos to playlists, sharing links, and other actions like Remix also reportedly don’t seem to work properly.

However, other functions such as Like, Subscribe, and Download work perfectly fine, making this bug confusing.

Additionally, creators have noticed that they’re unable to check analytics, edit channel details, or manage uploads properly. For the analytics issue, YouTube Support directly replied to a post on X, asking the affected user to try basic workarounds such as logging out and logging in, ensuring the app is up to date, etc.

I’ve checked for these issues myself, but was unable to replicate them in my testing. As is common with all bugs, it’s not affecting everyone.

A few users found a simple workaround, which actually helps. If you’re using your phone in portrait orientation, just switch to landscape mode. This often makes the buttons respond properly again. It’s not a complete solution, because some people just don’t want to use landscape mode. Reinstalling the app is a hit-or-miss. It might temporarily fix the issue, but there are reports that the problem returns again.

The Share and Save buttons are basic features, and it’s understandable why many users are annoyed, especially YouTube Premium customers.

YouTube hasn’t issued an official statement at the time of writing, but users are encouraged to report the bug directly via the app. If you’re experiencing this problem and you’ve found any solutions that work, do let us know in the comments.
