Roblox is rolling out a 42% increase to its DevEx rate for players aged 18 and above in the US. The payout rises from $0.38 to $0.54 per 100 earned Robux, on eligible in-game purchases.

This was announced officially on the Developer Forum. It applies to Robux subscriptions and also private servers using R15 avatars. The higher rate is applicable from June 8 and applies automatically; you don’t need to submit a separate application for this. Roblox tracks these earnings separately in the Creator Analytics dashboard, and the higher-rate Robux will be cashed out first.

Roblox says that the move rewards developers targeting the 18-34 US audience, which is adults. This segment is growing year-over-year, and logically, older players with money are the ones who can actually spend more money on the game.

User responses to this are largely positive, and people appreciate Roblox for “trying to kill the brainrot era.” Paying developers who have players above the age of 18 is also welcome, but people are simultaneously worried about the R15 requirement.

While the DevEx update targets creators, Roblox is also shaking up the player experience with the official launch of ‘Roblox Plus’ today. This was officially announced through a post on X.

It costs $4.99 a month and includes unlimited private servers, bigger discounts on in-game items, and more. Creators will receive full Robux value on sales.

You can no longer sign up for the older subscription, Roblox Premium. However, existing Premium subscribers can continue their membership. Furthermore, Premium members are also offered a one-month free trial of Roblox Plus, on top of their existing subscription.

Unfortunately, players are already hitting roadblocks when trying to subscribe to Roblox Plus. Reports claim that only credit or debit cards are accepted at checkout right now, while Roblox gift cards are rejected. Reddit threads are full of users posting subscription errors or unsupported payment messages.

However, an update from a developer indicates that Roblox plans to add gift card support over the next three months.

Roblox Plus.

In its Q1 earnings report, the company noted 132 million daily active users in Q1 2026, up 35% YOY, but still below analyst estimates of 144 million. This shortfall may have triggered a 20% crash in the stock, as reported by Benzinga

So by incentivizing 18-34-year-old spending, Roblox is likely racing to prove to Wall Street that its platform can mature alongside its audience.

While Roblox was in the news for all the wrong reasons before, the company seems to be focusing a lot on creators now. Recently, they’ve also rolled out Enhanced Protection with Advanced 2FA, and we covered that here.
