The file sizes of Forza Horizon 6 have just surfaced online, through the Xbox mobile app. The game is listed at approximately 145GB for Xbox consoles and 157GB for the PC version.
This information comes via screenshots shared on X and Reddit. These posts show the storage requirements directly from the app, and a lot of players are already preparing for the massive file sizes.
Forza Horizon 6 is one of the most anticipated racing titles in recent years, and given the leaks of the file sizes, a lot of SSD space needs to be freed up, or extension cards must be used for those on Xbox.

For reference, Forza Horizon 5 launched at around 100GB before ballooning to over 175GB on PC following years of expansions and updates. While FH6’s base size hasn’t reached that 175GB peak just yet, a starting footprint of up to 157GB is massive. It suggests the game will easily surpass its predecessor’s maximum size once post-release patches and DLC arrive.
The game is scheduled to release on May 19th, 2026, for Xbox Series X (and S), and also PC. It’ll be available via Microsoft Store and Steam, with early access for Premium Edition players starting on May 15.
The game will also be available on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass. Additionally, a PlayStation 5 version is scheduled for later in 2026, though the date is unclear at the time of writing. The full pre-install is also available now, if you have pre-ordered the game, as reported by @DaysUntilFH6 on X.
FH6 takes players to Japan and will have a vast, open-world map. There are over 550 cars at launch, with a lot of modes, and also cross-play multiplayer. These features may be contributing to the high file size, thanks to high-resolution textures, detailed environments, and extensive audio-visual effects.
It’s worth noting that developers didn’t issue an official statement on the exact sizes, and the app listings are the only source of the information. Do let us know what you think of the game and these sizes in the comments.
