Update 30/04/26 – 12:38 pm (IST): Spotify has officially acknowledged the ongoing outage. A community moderator confirmed on the company’s support forum that they are tracking widespread reports of playback issues across both mobile and desktop apps.

The glitch is currently marked as “Under Investigation.” Support teams have not provided an ETA for a fix just yet, but we will keep you posted.

Original article published on April 30, 2026, follows:

It seems like Spotify is suffering another massive outage today. For the second time in under 24 hours, the music streaming service is down and not working for thousands of users across desktop, web, and mobile platforms.

Users are finding that their Play/Pause button is completely grayed out. When a track does manage to start, it usually gets stuck around the 7 to 9 second mark and refuses to buffer any further.

People over on the r/truespotify subreddit are reporting endless loading screens. The platform is spitting out error messages like, ”We’re having trouble playing this right now. Try playing an offline song while you wait,” and “We’re trying to play this, but it’s taking a while.”

What’s more bizarre is that several listeners say even their locally downloaded tracks are failing to play for more than five seconds.

Meanwhile, complaints are also flooding in on X with dozens of users asking if Spotify is down.

I did spot at least one post from a user who claims that Spotify worked for them on the web player via Chrome, but not many have backed this up.

This is a tough week for the streaming giant. Just yesterday, Spotify had a brief system failure that spiked to over 4,000 reports on tracker sites in a matter of minutes.

That previous outage was resolved fairly quickly. Spotify’s support accounts never formally announced what went wrong yesterday, simply telling people to restart their apps.

Now that the platform is once again undergoing an outage, it’s unclear if we’ll get an offical report on what exactly went wrong.

We will keep an eye on the situation and update if Spotify rolls out a patch or an explanation for the back-to-back failures.
