Update 04/05/26 – 10:27 am (IST): Snapchat has fixed the issue with custom photo albums going missing from the image picker. Users on Reddit have confirmed they can see the albums appear once again. In my testing, I also see the albums reappear.
Original article published on April 29, 2026, follows:
Snapchat seems to have quietly removed a basic feature from its chat interface. Users are suddenly unable to select their custom photo albums when sending a picture directly in a conversation.
Judging by the timeline of reports online, the issue popped up a few days ago. People opening their direct messages found that their carefully organized folders for memes, screenshots, and reaction pictures were entirely missing from the photo picker.
According to multiple reports on Reddit’s r/SnapchatHelp community, the menu is now aggressively restricted. Users are only seeing a handful of broad categories like Recents, Favorites, Videos, and All Albums.
From what I was able to deduce, looking at the complaints, even that limited menu is broken. Dozens of users claim the “All Albums” button is completely unresponsive. They tap it, and absolutely nothing happens.
I could also replicate this behavior on my end on an iPhone. However, exiting the menu and opening it again seems to do the trick.
Still, the bigger issue is the custom albums being nowhere to be found. Users are annoyed because they are now forced to scroll through tens of thousands of camera roll photos just to find one specific image. Nobody wants to sift through 80,000 pictures to locate a reaction meme.
In another similar thread, users are confused and asking if this is a temporary glitch or a deliberate but stupid new update.
People are highly frustrated with the lack of communication. A separate group of users reporting the missing albums noted the interface change hit their phones around two to four days ago.
The app picked up an update around 6 days ago, according to details on the App Store. And the latest update on Android was today itself, as mentioned on the Play Store. So it’s unclear if this is a server-side change or a recent app update that’s responsible.
Snapchat, for its part, has not released an official statement or acknowledged the complaints. Support channels have been quiet.
For now, users have no real workaround. Unless the company pushes a patch or reverts the interface update, sending a saved picture is going to require a lot of mindless scrolling.
