Reading comments under a post is a basic app function. Right now, it is completely broken for a chunk of Android users. On top of that, a separate glitch is stopping Instagram from sending out new follower alerts.

The comment issue is heavily concentrated on Android. From what I was able to gather, it seems like the bug is primarily affecting users with Samsung phones, particular ones that support QHD+ display resolutions.

Users on the S24, S25, and S26 Ultra models are opening the app only to find completely empty boxes under posts. They say that they can load the same exact post on a tablet or a desktop browser, and everything shows up fine.

According to the comments under these posts, the problem is strictly tied to the mobile app and how it renders on high-resolution screens.

If you are staring at completely blank comment sections, there is a reliable fix. You have to go into your phone settings and drop the display resolution from QHD down to FHD.

People who tried this say the comments immediately return. Forcing users to downgrade their phone display just to read Instagram replies is not great, but it gets the job done for now.

The notification glitch is a bit more widespread and doesn’t seem to be impacting users with any particular devices.

Creators are watching their follower numbers go up without receiving any actual alerts. According to multiple reports, Instagram stopped sending these notifications several days ago.

This seems heavily tied to Reels. If someone follows you directly from your profile, you might still get pinged. But if a Reel goes viral and drives hundreds of new followers your way, the app stays completely silent.

Account owners are currently having to dig into their Insights tabs just to confirm their new audience numbers.

Meta support does not seem to know what is going on yet. Support reps are reportedly telling people to delete and reinstall the app. That does not fix the problem. The notification system is simply broken right now, at least for some users.

Let us know if you’ve experienced either of the two bugs mentioned here in the comments below. These bugs follow a separate bug from a few days ago that completely hid fresh Stories from the top feed bar.
