MyFitnessPal has rolled out a major redesign, and users are not happy about it.
The update replaces the app’s longtime Diary tab with a new “Today” screen as the main home view. On paper, it’s meant to make food logging more central and add features like streaks, meal planning shortcuts, and an AI-powered coach for Premium subscribers. In practice, a lot of users say the opposite happened.
We’re already seeing users complaining about the change on the r/MyFitnessPal subreddit. Users say basic tasks now take more taps, the food diary is buried behind a “View All” button, and per-meal macro breakdowns are harder to find.
One user said that the diary “has been ruined by being converted to a list of gigantic, space-consuming cards,” and logging a full day’s food now takes noticeably more effort than before.
The update caught some by surprise. A few said they were logging breakfast normally, came back for lunch, and found a completely different app waiting for them. The announcement email, for at least some users, arrived hours after the update had already hit.
That said, the backlash doesn’t just seem to be limited to people complaining on Reddit. Some are even going ahead and canceling their subscriptions. One user noted they dropped their $80/year plan and requested a refund from Apple.
Meanwhile, in another thread, users are calling for one-star reviews on the App Store and Play Store to pressure the company into reverting the changes.
Several longtime users say they’ve already switched to Cronometer. People with multi-year streaks and years of saved recipes say they’re now weighing whether to stay.
MyFitnessPal highlighted the new update in a help article, confirming the new Today tab is “the path forward” and there is no option to revert to the old layout. The company says it is continuing to improve the experience based on feedback and has set up a dedicated webform for complaints about the April 2026 redesign.
A small number of users say the app feels faster with the new update, and a few noted they had been on the new layout for months without issue. But they are pretty clearly in the minority right now.
