It seems like iPhone users in the UK are running into a frustrating problem when trying to access Reddit. Users say that the app is kicking off a looping Apple age verification prompt that they cannot get out of, no matter how many times they tap through it.

The popup asks users to confirm their age range through Apple Account settings as part of Apple’s “Age-Appropriate Experiences in Apps” feature, which went live in the UK with the iOS 26.4 update last month. The problem is that hitting “Continue” just throws users back to the same screen.

Adding to that headache, tapping “Update Birthday” does not help either. The OP of one thread said they have received up to six email confirmations from Apple saying their date of birth was updated, but the prompt keeps coming back.

That thread currently has 750 upvotes, with the OP frustratingly adding, “I’m 35 years old for f**ks sake.”

Interestingly, users in a separate r/ios thread noted that the pop-up only fires when they open Reddit, not other apps. One person confirmed that switching to a VPN bypasses the initial pop-up, though the looping issue in Apple Account settings persists regardless.

Apple Support has already been pulled into at least two reported cases. One user said they went through a full remote session with Apple, tried everything, including resetting the phone, and the issue still wasn’t fixed. Those support reps have since escalated the cases to senior advisors.

Apple’s OS-level age verification rollout has been bumpy from the start. The system accidentally leaked in an iOS 26.4 beta before officially launching, and faced pushback from privacy groups over its implementation. Now, it seems the mechanism intended to protect children is actively locking adults out of third-party apps like Reddit.

There’s no fix confirmed yet. A handful of users say the loop stopped on its own at some point, but nobody seems to know why.

We’ll post an update if and when there’s anything to share.
