Adam Mosseri (the head of Instagram) hinted via an Instagram Story that the company might allow you to add built-in Voice-overs to your stories. You can view the full video below, posted by Radu Onescu on X. At the time of writing, the Story has expired, and Adam has not yet added it to the AMA section under his profile’s Highlights.

In the video, Adam says that he likes this idea and that the current procedure to do Voice-overs for a story is a bit cumbersome. Currently, the process is a multi-step workaround: users must use the editing tools to add audio, record the voice-over, save the file, and then re-upload it to their Story. So it’s possible, just not in a straightforward way.

He closes the video along the lines of “…we should look into making it easier,” implying that Instagram is working on a feature where you can directly add Voice-overs to Stories. People were fairly happy about this, calling it “amazing.”

Since Adam didn’t say he’ll definitely add the feature, we can’t confirm that for now. There was no provided timeline in the video as well. However, Adam frequently asks users for feedback and new features, and many of them were implemented in the past, like editing comments.

While the voice-over feature is still in the “hint” stage, Instagram is officially rolling out a new “Make Sticker” button within DMs.

I’ve checked for this feature on Android and iOS, and it’s available for both. You can either long-press any media and hit “Make Sticker,” or find the icon that looks like a scissor, which is to the left of the image shared in the DM. It’ll open an interface where you can edit the selection, save the sticker, or send it.

New feature: Make a Sticker in Instagram DMs

A similar feature was available earlier, where you could create a sticker from an existing image. Now, you can make animated GIFs, create stickers directly from Reels, and even from a video. If you’re creating an animated sticker from a video, it’ll automatically track the subject and create a cutout.

These updates follow Instagram’s recent push toward greater user control, including new tools that let you customize your feed based on specific topics. You can read about that here.
