According to some reports on Reddit, a new update on the CHAI app allows users to go back to a previous response and continue the chat from there. It shows up as two arrows at the bottom of the chat, where you can go backward or forward by tapping either left or right, respectively.
A lot of people were seemingly waiting for this update so they could pick different responses to continue chats.
If you liked an older response better, you have the option to go back to that as the preferred response. A few people don’t like the UI design of it, but that may change with future updates. If it’s part of the Edit tab, that’d make it a lot cleaner. Other complaints revolve around it being visually clunky. Some are pressing the Recycle button instead of the Edit button.
A few others have feature requests, such as the option to delete multiple messages at once and personas.
A lot of people are still complaining about the message limits, and texting remains limited. Another post on Reddit notes that the ‘About’ section on the Play Store no longer says “Unlimited free messages.” The user asked whether the app would entirely go behind a paywall or whether there would be a new limited tier for messaging for free users. We recently covered that the “unlimited messages” on the free tier were actually limited.
The founder of CHAI directly responded to this post, saying that the basic tier with message limits is almost ready. Citing increasing GPU prices as the reason, he also said that unlimited messages are no longer possible. However, that would mean the basic tier would have ads, as well as message limits, as some comments have pointed out. People are not happy with paying for a service that still serves ads and also has limits.
People were also quick to point out that removing the image generator would help with GPU usage a lot more, but the founder did not respond further. While I don’t think this is what free CHAI users wanted, a new basic tier that doesn’t cost a lot of money is indeed helpful for those who can’t pay for the higher tiers.
CHAI should also look into the feature requests people had, like deleting multiple messages, personas, duplicate chats, and more.
