It seems like some users, primarily on the “New X Android” experience (within the main X Android app), and those on the X Lite beta app, are complaining about receiving blank notifications. These notifications are just… empty. Sometimes, it shows the username of the person, and then shows nothing underneath.

People complaining about notifications on X.

I’ve checked for this issue myself on the “New X” app, and it sends me blank notifications that don’t even have a username. I can’t tell if it’s a new post, a reply, or a DM. This wasn’t an issue before; it has only been happening for the past week or so.

X Lite app notification bugs.

Someone asked Grok what the exact issue was, and Grok responded<, saying it's an X glitch or bug. That said, while most reports appear to be coming from users on the Lite and "New X Android" apps, some are also reporting broken notifications on the standard Android app. There are also some reports that clicking on the notification just opens the previous page that the user left it at, and not the page it was supposed to open.  Grok response to Notifications issue.

As expected, people are annoyed that it keeps spamming their phones with such empty notifications.

Nikita Bier recently made a post on X, saying “…we fixed the last bug, X is officially bug-free.” I don’t know if that was satirical, but it’s far from true. The issue with blank notifications proves that. Other issues I’ve experienced on the new X Android app include access issues with the phone’s gallery, where it doesn’t let you add more than one image to a reply unless you expand the reply.

Earlier, there was also an issue where hitting the Enter key would send the reply or post, instead of letting us format it. They seem to have fixed that for the X app for now, but now there’s the same issue on the Grok Android app. We’ve also covered other weird issues, such as auto-translate automatically changing the flags of countries. You can read about that here.

I cover fast-moving stories across apps, online platforms, and everyday tech — phones, wearables, consoles, and whatever else people are fighting with this week. Bugs, rollouts, scams, policy enforcement, and the occasional internet-culture rabbit hole are all fair game. My goal is simple — make confusing tech news readable.
