Some Samsung Galaxy phones with Exynos chips reportedly reboot when opening this Fairphone website

Opening the Fairphone Gen 6 OS website is causing unexplained reboots on Samsung Galaxy phones that use Exynos chips. Once users open this specific link, the device powers down almost instantly.

The issue was put in the spotlight by a Galaxy S24 user on Reddit, who posted a video of the phone entirely restarting after opening that website. The comments are flooded with several users reporting the same thing. It’s not isolated to one specific model, and it’s happening for flagships such as the Galaxy S25 Ultra as well as recent midrange phones like the Galaxy A56.

The phone just restarts without warning. It’s not just Samsung phones, but some tablets, such as the Galaxy Tab S10 FE, have the same issue. Some people claim it only triggers on Google Chrome, and others say the issue does not happen on Firefox. There are a few reports that claim it takes really long to open the site, and that the phone heats up as well.

If you run it through the Google app, which still indirectly runs Chrome, the problem will still occur. Samsung Internet is vulnerable to this random restart bug as well.

Commentary online assumes that it’s a security flaw or rendering flaw causing this issue. It might be an Exynos-specific bug, since Snapdragon users report that their phones can open the website perfectly fine. The exact cause of this issue is unclear, but a Wi-Fi conflict is heavily speculated, since the issue sometimes doesn’t happen on mobile data. Interestingly, the issue isn’t with Android as a whole. I’ve tried it on a few Pixel devices, and the website opens perfectly fine. Safari on iOS has no problems opening this website either, so it’s restricted specifically to Exynos-powered Samsung phones.
