Is Samsung Messages missing or incompatible with your new Galaxy S26? Many buyers are finding out that Samsung Messages isn’t working on their brand new phone, right after setting it up. The app doesn’t even show up as “Available” on the Galaxy Store if people search it up.

Samsung Messages incompatibility.

Some people have tried using Quick Share to their S26 unit from another device, but that does not work either. This problem affects all the S26 models- the base, Plus, and Ultra. The reason for this is that Samsung uses different APK signatures across various regions. Some users are mysteriously able to install the app with no trouble, while others are left with compatibility issues.

Samsung Messages issue.

This actually isn’t the first time we’re seeing this issue. Samsung was caught up in a similar situation with the S25 series as well last year, and they had to release a compatible version later in the Galaxy Store after the launch. Users of the S26 series are now expecting a similar fix, and Samsung has to roll it out soon since retail units have started shipping several days ago.

A simple and temporary fix is sideloading the app through reliable websites like APK Mirror, but I advise caution before sideloading anything from unofficial stores. If you can make do with Google Messages for now, I’d suggest staying on it until Samsung addresses this with an update. It will likely not take that long.

Despite having its own app loaded with features, Samsung still pushes Google Messages as the primary messaging app, likely because of a contract or deal. Features like Scheduled Messages and the categorization of the overall app are better on Samsung Messages, and many users prefer it for that reason. The app offers features that hardcore Galaxy users can’t live without, including message organization, blocked contact options, and more.

For the S27 series, I think it’s better if Samsung develops the app before the launch, during the beta testing phase, instead of days after retail units ship. Initial rollout delays are rather annoying, but common. It’s not just Samsung Messages that appear broken for now on the S26 series, but there’s a lot of controversy regarding the new Privacy Display as well, and you can read about whether it downgrades your screen quality here.
