Perplexity’s model picker looks different today. Users have spotted that the platform no longer shows Grok or Gemini Flash, and the visible list instead includes Sonar, GPT-5.4, Gemini 3.1 Pro, Claude Sonnet 4.6, Claude Opus 4.6 Max, and Kimi K2.5.

One user in r/perplexity_ai asked whether Grok and Gemini Flash had been removed, while a second thread noting, “less AI models listed”, surfaced around the same time. Both confirm the same thing: Gemini 3 Flash and Grok 4.1 are gone.

The OP in the first thread initially noted the models were still showing on Android, but that didn’t last long. Within a couple of hours, replies confirmed they’d disappeared from Android as well.

I can also confirm the same on my end. The two models have been removed from the web and from the iOS and Android apps. Check out the screenshots below for reference:

As you can see, there’s no sign of Grok or Gemini Flash anywhere in the current picker, at least at the time of this writing.

This sudden removal seems to have happened right after Perplexity added GPT-5.4, which was released publicly just a few hours ago. Interestingly, I noticed that the two models weren’t in the official screenshot the company shared on X to announce the addition of GPT-5.4 either.

Perplexity’s help center page on included models does state that the model list changes over time, but there’s no official announcement about this specific removal so far.

Both removed models had their fans. Grok was a frequent pick for real-time questions since it has direct access to X. Gemini Flash was the fast, no-fuss option for quick lookups and everyday questions. Neither has a direct replacement in what’s currently on the list.

We’ll keep an eye out for any further details and will update the article accordingly.
