Update 16/02/26 – 07:58 pm (IST): While the For You feed might show a “Welcome to X!” note like you’ve set up a brand new account, it appears that the Following feed is working at the moment. So if you’re ready to get back to doomscrolling, switch to the Following tab while X sorts out the issue properly.
Update 16/02/26 – 07:46 pm (IST): Certain features like ‘Search’ have started working partially again (it’s a hit or a miss). But in my testing, the feed is still broken. There’s no official word yet.
Update 16/02/26 – 07:30 pm (IST): Exactly a month after the previous outage, X is down again today. The service seems to have gone down just a few minutes ago, and currently, it’s completely inaccessible – both on the web and on mobile. When you try refreshing, the error “Something went wrong. Try reloading” shows up instead of the regular feed of posts.
I checked DownDetector, and it’s currently showing a very sharp spike in complaints, which is understandable, given the popularity of X.

Anyway, I am keeping a tab on the situation and will update the article as and when there’s a significant development.
Update 16/01/26 – 09:15 pm (IST): Looks like X is down again. I can see my X feed isn’t refreshing – it says “Cannot retrieve posts at this time”.

And even DownDetector is showing a huge spike in reports:

We are keeping an eye, and will post more info on this ongoing outage as it surfaces.
Update 13/01/26 – 08:00 pm (IST): It seems X (formerly Twitter) is currently undergoing an outage. I noticed the problem where the feed refused to load. Upon checking Downdetector, it seems thousands of other users are also facing the issue.
It’s unclear what might be causing the outage.
Original article published on November 14, 2025, follows:
X is experiencing technical difficulties this morning, with users across multiple regions reporting issues accessing key features of the service. The problems appear to have started around half an hour ago.
Users are encountering error messages indicating that posts aren’t loading properly, with some seeing a “Posts aren’t loading right now” message accompanied by a retry button.
The chat functionality also seems to be affected. I attempted to access direct messages on the desktop version and was met with a “Your messages failed to load” error, with the main panel stuck on an empty state prompting users to “Select a chat.”
Notifications are also experiencing significant delays or failing to deliver entirely. User Manda Bendre reported not receiving alerts for replies, noting “I am not getting notifications for many replies,” with another user confirming they hadn’t received notifications for posts from earlier in the day.
Platform owner Elon Musk acknowledged the situation, posting a direct appeal asking users to reply if they weren’t receiving notifications or experiencing delays beyond a few minutes.
But that post was made a few hours ago, indicating that the notification problems might not necessarily be linked with the loading issues that seem to have cropped up under an hour ago.
That said, another problem that some users are noticing is that when they visit some’s profile, they see a pop-up error at the bottom saying, “The term you entered did not bring up any results.” The same user, Manda Bendre, also shared a screenshot of this, but there are dozens of complaints from others too.
The outage appears widespread but not universal. Downdetector has registered over a thousand complaints about service disruptions.
With this, it seems X users just can’t catch a break. Yesterday, folks with those fancy hardware keys got totally locked out of their accounts, thanks to a missed re-enrollment deadline on November 10. It looped them into endless “suspicious activity” hell on apps and web. The glitch hit millions, big names included, right as X was beefing up security.
Luckily, it seems the folks at X caught wind of the issue and addressed the problem shortly after. Nikita Bier responded to a complaint stating, “It was rolled back. It should work now.”
So let’s hope a fix for these other loading problems arrives sooner rather than later.
Developing…..
