2026 is the year of the creator on 𝕏.

We closed 2025 with the highest payouts since our monetization program launched and we are just getting started. This year, our focus is clear: empower creators to grow on 𝕏 and earn more.
Here is what we’ve already rolled out this year…
I’m seeing a lot of reports popping up from X creators who say their monetization got paused without warning. The complaints started rolling in earlier today (payday), with many saying they lost access to revenue sharing just hours before scheduled payouts.
Noah X shared that he pulled 5.8 million impressions over two weeks but still got hit with a pause notice. He’s tagging Elon Musk, Nikita Bier, and X Support asking for answers. Same story from multiple crypto accounts who claim tens of millions of impressions but got paused right before Friday’s payout window.
The pause message shows up in the Earnings Dashboard telling creators they violated the Creator Revenue Sharing Program policies. But here’s the thing: most of these accounts say they got zero explanation about what rule they broke. @Xprofessorrr’s post asking why X is doing this to productive creators has gotten over 18,000 views so far.
Crypto accounts seem to be getting hit hardest based on what I’m seeing in search results. @MikeZillionaire and @0xSweep both posted about losing access despite generating millions of views weekly. Some users think it might be tied to engagement farming, which has been a problem since X changed its monetization rules back in October 2024.
The appeal process isn’t giving people much comfort either. One creator mentioned X’s AI support told them it could take a week to hear back, if they even get a response. Another user said their monetization stayed paused for four months before suddenly coming back after multiple appeals.
This wave comes just weeks after X announced major changes to creator payouts for 2026, calling it “the year of the creator”. The platform also updated how revenue gets calculated in mid-January, with Nikita Bier confirming that replies no longer count toward earnings. Now creators only earn from Home Timeline views.
Whether this pause wave is related to the new rules or part of a broader crackdown on suspicious activity isn’t clear yet. X hasn’t put out an official statement explaining what’s going on. Given the sudden influx of reports, it’s possible that this might be a glitch too, but either way, it’s not looking good for creators who have been trying to build an audience on the platform.
