It seems like free-tier X users are getting hammered by promoted posts from the official @Products account, and the usual defenses aren’t working. People have blocked it, muted it, reported it multiple times, but the ads keep showing up anyway.

A Reddit user kicked off a thread complaining that @Products promotions appear constantly no matter what they do. “I tried blocking, I tried muting, and I tried both,” they wrote. “But when I view a Tweet and scroll down, it still shows up with another ad.” The post picked up traction quickly, with other users confirming they’re seeing the same thing.

But it’s not just Reddit. The complaints have been popping up on X as well. User @c___church said every third tweet is a @Products ad. Another user, @dvazz, asked why every third post they see is from @Products, even after muting and blocking. @SirKittyfish tagged both X and Elon Musk directly, saying they’ve blocked, muted, and reported the account numerous times. Still, nothing changed.

Interestingly (or rather ironically), one user in the comments of the Reddit post said, “I swear the ads from @Products got MORE common after blocking it.” They think it’s a deliberate workaround to get past user blocks. Another commenter mentioned the ads are full of garbage items.

As a Premium subscriber myself, I haven’t really noticed any ad overload from @Products or anyone else. That’s got me wondering if X is taking a page from YouTube’s playbook here. YouTube famously bombards free users with ads to nudge them toward Premium. Maybe X is doing the same thing, cranking up the promoted post frequency to push people into paying for an ad-free experience.

Some users have given up on X’s native controls entirely. One commenter on Reddit suggested using the uBlock Origin browser extension to block all ads. Another user on X asked if the only way to block @Products is to just hide the account’s elements with an ad blocker.

X hasn’t publicly commented on the issue. But with this many people reporting the same problem across platforms, it’s clear something unusual is going on with how @Products ads are being served right now.
