If you’ve been trying to watch videos on X lately and keep running into a “Content is not available” error, you’re not imagining things. A bunch of users have been dealing with this for several days now, and X still hasn’t said anything about it.

From what I noticed, the problem has been around for a while now. I’ve seen reports about the issue from a few days ago, but the wave of complaints has grown in the past day or so.

Users are reporting that nearly every video that comes across their feed shows the unavailable content message instead of playing. Some were even seeing location-based restrictions, saying videos aren’t available in their region.

It doesn’t seem to matter what kind of video or who posted it. People are hitting this error across their entire timeline. The usual fixes aren’t working either. Switching location settings, refreshing, logging out and back in, nothing helps.

The frustrating part here is that despite the problem seemingly troubling users for several days, there has been no word from xAI employees. No acknowledgment, no “we’re working on it,” nothing. Radio silence while a chunk of users can’t access one of the platform’s core features.

Interestingly, not everyone is affected. I’ve been able to view videos on the platform without any hiccups. And judging by the relatively low complaints online (considering the many million X users), it’s clear that plenty of others are also not having any problems.

Video content has become huge for X, especially as the platform tries to position itself as a competitor to YouTube and TikTok. Elon Musk has pushed hard for creators to upload longer videos and build audiences there. When a significant portion of users can’t even play videos for multiple days, that’s a problem.

The location restriction messages are particularly weird. It suggests something’s broken in how X’s systems verify video availability and user permissions. But again, we’re all just guessing because X hasn’t explained what’s happening.

This isn’t the only controversy X is dealing with right now. The platform recently rolled out a Grok AI image editing feature that’s got artists up in arms over the lack of an opt-out option. Between that and now this video playback mess, it’s been a rough week for the platform.

For now, affected users are stuck waiting. If you’re one of them, at least you know it’s not just you. Many others are dealing with the same broken video players, wondering when someone at X will finally acknowledge the issue.
