Instagram users are reporting they can’t access their accounts through the mobile app, with login attempts silently failing after what appears to be a loading screen. The issue started surfacing around 10 hours ago based on multiple Reddit threads, and complaints are still coming in.
Users say they aren’t seeing “incorrect password” warnings or any other explanation. One user described the experience as clicking login, watching it load, and then having it simply stop without any feedback.
Some people have reset their passwords multiple times, thinking that might fix things, only to end up more confused about their actual credentials.
The issue appears to affect iPhone users more heavily, though some Android users report similar problems when trying to add or switch between accounts. One individual in the login problems thread mentioned they cleared their app cache and reinstalled Instagram, but their saved accounts still won’t let them back in. Another person even tried logging in from an old backup phone with no luck.
Interestingly, browser-based login seems to work fine for many affected users. People report they can access Instagram through Safari, Chrome, and even Instagram Lite without any trouble using the same credentials that fail in the main app. But as one frustrated user pointed out, there are features you can’t access through the web version, making it an incomplete workaround.
The confusion has led some users to worry they’ve been hacked, especially when they receive login codes via email that still don’t work. Reports on the issue mention typing in verification codes perfectly, but still getting stuck on the login screen.
A few posts on X also confirm the problem, with users unable to log in even through their linked Facebook accounts.
That said, I’ve personally been able to use Instagram without any hiccups on 3 separate Android devices and an iPhone. So it’s unclear why some users are unable to log in to the app.
Instagram hasn’t acknowledged the issue publicly yet, and the usual lack of direct customer support means affected users are left refreshing Reddit and hoping for a fix.
