When Tidal’s own leadership posts a meme making fun of how late they’ve been to the year-end recap game, you know change is coming. Robert Andersen, who runs Tidal at Block (and also happens to be Square’s founding designer and Cash App co-creator), shared a SpongeBob meme on X showing Tidal watching from inside while Spotify and Apple Music run around outside. His caption? “Ending this meme today (even though it makes me laugh every time).” And he wasn’t joking.

Tidal dropped Recap 2025 on December 2, and users are loving it. The response on Reddit has been overwhelmingly positive, with one user saying, “Holy hell, they actually cooked.” Unlike Spotify Wrapped’s recent direction โ€” which has drawn criticism for AI-generated nonsense and confusing personality categories โ€” Tidal kept things clean and straightforward. Top artists, top songs, monthly streaming breakdowns. That’s it. No fluff, no forced quizzes.

One user even shared a video highlighting their Rewind 2025:

Finding your Recap is easy enough. Just tap the notifications bell in your app, and everything’s waiting there. The feature also generates a shareable graphic with your top 5 artists and songs, which Tidal’s official account has been happily reposting from users. You also get a personalized playlist of your most-played tracks from the year, so revisiting your 2025 favorites takes seconds.

Users have been asking about annual recaps for years, so this is a welcome addition. The timing of this launch โ€” right alongside Spotify Wrapped season โ€” shows that the team under Andersen is paying attention. Even new subscribers who joined just last month received recaps showing their listening habits from day one.

There are some quirks worth noting. A few users spotted discrepancies between Tidal’s data and Last.fm, which comes down to counting methods. Tidal registers a play after 30 seconds, while Last.fm waits for 50% of a song. But overall, the reception speaks for itself.

As one user on X put it: “TIDAL HAS WRAPPED THIS YEAR.” For anyone tired of watching YouTube Music Recap, Apple Music Recap, and Spotify Wrapped dominating their feeds, it ends this year with Tidal Rewind.
