Business owners across the globe are reporting a frustrating problem with their Google Business Profile listings: reviews are vanishing without warning. What started as isolated complaints has snowballed into a confirmed widespread bug that’s affecting companies of all sizes, with some losing hundreds of legitimate customer testimonials overnight.

A doctor running a Google account under the name Dr. Burhan Nazir shared his experience in a Google Support thread, explaining that close to 600 genuine patient reviews disappeared over the past four months. The sudden drop left him scrambling for answers, unsure whether the deletions were permanent or part of a temporary glitch.

Another business owner reported losing over 200 positive reviews that had taken years to accumulate, while others noticed their review counts dropping by dozens at a time.​

Similarly, there are many such reports popping up every other day: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, and 15.

A Google Product Expert stepped in to confirm what many suspected: this is a global bug, not a crackdown on fake reviews. In his response to affected business owners, he acknowledged that Google is aware of the situation and is actively working on a fix. He advised anyone experiencing the issue to contact Google Business Profile support directly by typing “missing reviews” into the help form and submitting details about their case.​

Reviews play a crucial role in local search rankings and customer trust, so seeing them disappear can feel like watching years of hard work evaporate. Some business owners have reported that their reviews eventually reappeared after filing support tickets, though the timeline varies.​

This isn’t the first time Google has dealt with review-related bugs. Earlier this year, in February, a similar display issue caused review counts to show lower numbers even though the reviews themselves hadn’t been deleted. And then, in late October, reports highlighted the same issue. The current problem appears to be a continuation or resurgence of those technical hiccups, though Google hasn’t issued a new formal statement yet.
