If you open Reddit and a notification badge appears. You tap it, expecting a reply or at least a little karma bump that matters, and instead you get… “Amazing! Your comment got 3 upvotes and 1 replies! Dig deeper on your comment’s performance insights!”
It feels like Reddit hired an over-caffeinated hype man who cheers for every tiny thing you do. Three upvotes? Amazing! One reply? Nice! The same comment hitting five upvotes an hour later? Amazing again! Active commenters are getting these several times per comment, and the notification looks identical to a real reply alert, so people keep checking for nothing.
r/help has exploded with almost identical posts in the past day or so: “How do I disable this,” “Why 3 times for same comment,” “Reddit is punishing me for commenting often,” “This is horrible.” The complaints spilled onto X too, with screenshots and people openly begging for the app to chill out.

The alerts are part of a new(ish) “comment insights” feature that Reddit quietly turned on for everyone. It’s meant to show you how your comment is “performing,” but most people just want real interactions, not a participation trophy every ten minutes.
If you’re fed up with this, then you’re in luck because the fix is simple and actually works.
Mobile app (iOS or Android):
- Tap your avatar (top right).
- Tap the settings gear.
- Tap your username → “Manage notifications” (or it may already be under Notifications).
- Scroll until you see “Comment insights” (sometimes worded “Insights on your comments and posts” or “Post & comment insights”).
- Switch it off.
Desktop / reddit.com
- Click your avatar → User Settings → Notifications tab.
- Find “Comment insights” in the list and turn the toggle off.
That’s it. The “Amazing!” and “Nice!” spam stops immediately, and you still keep real reply notifications, mentions, and any milestone alerts (50+, 100+, etc.) you had before.
A few people don’t see the exact “Comment insights” line and instead had to turn off “Upvotes on your comments” completely — it also kills the alerts, but you lose the old-school score milestone pings too. Most users who only flipped the insights toggle report everything else stays intact.
If the alerts keep coming after you change the setting, force-quit the app, log out/in, or check you’re on the latest version. Some people only started seeing them after a recent update, even when the toggle was already off.
Either way, once that switch is flipped, your notification panel goes back to telling you about actual humans instead of Reddit’s hype bot. Peace returns, battery life improves, and you can comment without the app throwing confetti every five minutes.
