Path of Exile players are pressing Grinding Gear Games to bring back a popular interaction that quietly vanished in the 3.27.0c update. The ability to use currency directly from the Map Device Rucksack while inside maps had only appeared recently, but the community immediately embraced it.
Once GGG labelled it a bug and removed it in the latest patch notes preview, the reaction across Reddit turned into a unified call to restore it. Threads like “GGG please revert this” have climbed quickly, with single comments pulling in more than a thousand upvotes, which shows how strongly players felt about the change.
The appeal of the removed behavior is clear. It made mapping smoother. Essence farming became less clunky. Strongbox rolling felt more fluid. Players who run dozens of maps in a row loved not having to top up stacks of Alchs, Scours, Vaal Orbs or other common currencies after every few maps. Many did not even realize it was unintentional at first, since the Map Device Rucksack is a paid convenience item and its ability to supply currency inside maps felt sensible rather than accidental.
Several players explained that although the feature felt great, it came with problems that hinted at why GGG may have pulled it immediately. One detailed report described Vaal Orbs turning unusable on the second Essence monster unless the player picked up dropped items first.
They also noted that buying from Kirac would sometimes pull currency from the rucksack instead of the stash. Some said the rucksack worked only half of the time, with certain maps not detecting stored currency at all.
That said, the conversation then shifted toward hopes for an official version later. Many comments on the 3.27.0c patch notes preview ask GGG to acknowledge that the feature was well-received and consider rebuilding it properly.
Players also noticed a bit of irony. A post titled “It That Was QoL” joked about the feature being too good to survive once GGG recognized it was unintended. Even within the humor, the message remained clear. The community wants this convenience back, but without the technical issues that surrounded the unintended implementation.
For now, it’s unclear if the developers will consider the requests or not. Moreover, they already had a lot on their plates to deal with following the patch since it broke gameplay on PlayStation consoles, prompting GGG to take the game offline for maintenance.
All in all, players are not demanding that GGG roll the change back without caution. Instead, the prevailing sentiment is that the studio should temporarily disable it if needed, then rebuild it safely and reintroduce it once the underlying issues are solved. Until that happens, the community will keep asking the same thing. Restore the Map Device Rucksack currency use, because it genuinely improved the feel of mapping and revealed how much smoother the game can be with a bit of well-placed convenience.
