Update 08/11/25 – 07:52 pm (IST): Here are a couple of workarounds that seem to have helped users get back the Memories feature. Both these workarounds were shared in the comments of this post.
User Kelly Sheehan said:
I just got mine back. I deleted my Facebook app then I turned my phone off turned my phone back on and reinstall the Facebook app and that worked. I have an iPhone 14.
Another user, Jenna Walsh, mentioned that after they turned off the ‘Allow AI restyle memory suggestions’ option, they got back the feature.
That said, not everyone had the same luck. Multiple users claim that this workaround didn’t help them. Either way, give it a shot and let us know if it worked.
Original article published on November 7, 2025, follows:
Facebook users are frustrated after waking up to find their Memories have vanished. Reports started flooding in about two days ago, with people taking to Reddit and X to ask what happened to one of the platform’s most beloved features.
The issue seems to have started on Wednesday for most users. One Reddit user described checking their Memories every morning for 13 years, only to find them suddenly gone. “It was one of the only things I actually enjoyed from the app,” they wrote.
Others quickly chimed in with similar experiences. “Mine too. I check mine everyday,” another user commented. “It’s nice to see pictures of what my dog and I got up to back then before she passed.”
The weird thing is that the problem didn’t start the same way for everyone. Some users reported seeing the same memory repeated multiple times before everything disappeared. One person counted the same post from a year ago showing up eighteen times on their Memories page. Then, the next day, Facebook claimed they had no memories at all.
For those still seeing something, the experience is equally broken. Several users mentioned their Memories page loads but only displays one or two posts before cutting off, even though they know they have years of content from those dates. Others are getting a “choose a layout for memories” prompt with no actual memories underneath.
One user shared they lost access to posts from the day after their grandfather passed away a year ago. “I know I made posts that day,” they wrote. “Now today, says no memories available which I know for a fact is not true.”
People on X have been equally vocal. “C’mon @facebook @Meta what have you done with the memories function? Everyone’s favourite aspect of the app has disappeared!!” one user posted. Another person said Memories was the last thing they were using Facebook for.
While some users aren’t experiencing any issues, the majority of reports suggest this is a widespread problem affecting accounts across different regions. A few people speculated it might be related to a recent app update, though that hasn’t been confirmed.
Facebook hasn’t released an official statement about what’s causing the outage or when Memories might return. For now, users who rely on the feature to revisit old photos and posts are left waiting and hoping it’s just a temporary glitch that’ll get fixed soon.
