Apple TV is experiencing a significant service disruption, with over 15,000 users flooding Downdetector with outage reports.
The streaming platform appears to have buckled under the weight of viewer demand for Pluribus, the highly anticipated new series from Vince Gilligan, creator of Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul.
Users across multiple platforms have been met with error messages reading “There’s a problem loading this content” when attempting to access any content on the service, not just the new release.
Moreover, reports suggest that the problem extends beyond Apple TV devices to iPhones, iPads, and web browsers.
One Reddit thread discussing the problem has bagged over 160 upvotes and over a hundred comments from others who are also experiencing issues on Apple TV+.
Similarly, many users have also flocked to X to report that Apple TV is down right now. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman even posted a screenshot of the error that popped up on the Apple TV app on their phone.
You’d think a company of Apple’s stature would anticipate high traffic for a major release, especially one helmed by Gilligan, whose previous work commands a devoted following. The fact that the service crumbled under launch-day demand suggests either unexpected viewership numbers or inadequate preparation.
Apple has not yet issued an official statement regarding the outage or provided an estimated timeline for restoration of services. That said, it’s highly likely that it’ll be resolved within an hour or so, if not earlier.
We’ll keep an eye out for any further developments and will update this post.
Developing…..
