Update 12/11/25 – 10:31 am (IST): Facebook really seems to be messing up the commenting experience on the platform. Some desktop users on browsers are now reporting that the comments box is missing for them, essentially not letting them drop any comments. Here’s the full story.

Original article published on November 4, 2025, follows:

Facebook group administrators and users are sounding the alarm over a widespread bug that’s making comments mysteriously disappear from posts across the platform. The issue, which has intensified over the past few days, is causing major headaches for community managers and business page owners who rely on comments for sales and engagement.

Users are reporting that while comment counts display normally on posts, clicking through reveals either completely blank comment sections or only a fraction of the responses that should be there. The problem affects both the mobile app and desktop versions of Facebook, with multiple users confirming they’ve tried the usual fixes – clearing cache, reinstalling the app, restarting devices – to no avail.

In the Facebook Power Admins Global group, frustrated administrators are comparing notes about the glitch. One admin described discovering a “MAJOR BUG in all our groups where we cannot see the comments” under the “ALL COMMENTS” setting, noting that switching manually to “MOST RELEVANT” brings back most comments. Other group leaders chimed in to confirm they’re experiencing identical issues, with one calling it “very disruptive to our groups.”

Since the group is private, someone else captured screenshots and shared them on Facebook. Check them out below:

The Reddit community has also lit up with complaints. In one thread, a user posted about being unable to see comments on their own post in a public group, despite the number indicator showing multiple responses. Their friend who isn’t even in the group couldn’t see the comments either, leading to confusion about what these “ghost” comments actually are.

Another frustrated Redditor shared that this has been an ongoing problem for years, but it’s gotten noticeably worse recently. Even selecting “all comments” – previously a reliable workaround – no longer displays everything. When logging into a different account, however, the missing comments suddenly appear, suggesting the issue isn’t related to blocking.

Facebook hasn’t publicly acknowledged the issue in an official capacity at the time of this writing, but these comments from power admins suggest that the issue has been flagged already.

Meanwhile, the flood of complaints keeps rolling in. A quick search on Facebook brings up multiple posts about the problem. So it’s clearly a widespread issue.

As mentioned above, the temporary fix is to Toggle between comment sorting options – switching from “all comments” to “most relevant” or “newest” seems to bring back at least some of the missing responses. But it’s a clunky workaround for what should be basic functionality, and it doesn’t work for everyone.

Give it a shot and let us know if it helped in the comments below. Our comments actually work. 🙂
