Players booting up Pokémon TCG Pocket after the latest update got more than they bargained for. The new loading screen accidentally revealed Greninja EX, an unreleased card that wasn’t supposed to show up until the Mega Rising expansion drops a few hours from now.

The leak happened when the app updated its title screen visuals. User SmithyLK on Reddit spotted the water-type starter front and center, displaying its French name “Amphinobi” alongside its stats. Word spread fast. Multiple reports (1, 2, 3, 4, 5) are popping up across social media as players fire up the game and see the ninja frog staring back at them.

So what does Greninja EX actually do? From what players can make out, it’s a 170 HP water-type with an ability that lets you swap your active water Pokémon with a benched one once per turn. The attack appears to cost two energy for 100 damage, which puts it in an interesting spot compared to other meta options. Some players are already calling it weak against Oricorio, while others think it might help Suicune decks find their footing in the new format.

The loading screen wasn’t the only source of leaks either. Players digging through the App Store screenshots found preview images showing Rapidash EX and Luxray, plus what looks like full art versions of Mega Absol EX.

Rapidash EX seems to deal 110 damage for three fire energy and hits a benched Pokémon for 30, though it won’t work with Blaine support since it’s an EX card.

The update itself brought more than just leaks. According to a post from PLDH, the level cap jumped to 60, deck limits increased to 25, and the Wonder Pick feature now displays card counts. You can also favorite a booster pack for quicker access from the home screen, plus there are some card dex UI tweaks that make browsing your collection smoother.

While players are calling this a “leak,” it’s more likely that it’s a little nugget that the developers intentionally threw in with the latest update. Either way, it’s just an early peek at what’s coming when Mega Rising officially goes live.
