Update 30/10/25 – 09:14 am (IST): At least one user has confirmed that the latest WhatsApp update has fixed the problem for them. Here’s what they said:

Guys its working now. But you need to update it on App store. Mine has been restored by updating the app. The update was released about an hour ago.

Upon checking the App Store, there is indeed a fresh update available as version 25.31.75. So hit the update button and try again.

There’s still no update for the Facebook app.

If you grabbed your iPhone this morning only to find Facebook showing a blank profile page or WhatsApp frozen on its splash screen, you’re definitely not alone. A wave of frustrated users on iOS devices are reporting both issues simultaneously, and the timing suggests something bigger might be going on with Meta’s apps.

The Facebook problem seems particularly annoying. Users are finding their profile pages completely blank except for a “See Options” button floating in white space. One Reddit user described the issue: “When I try to look at my profile page, this blank white screen is all I see. I haven’t changed, posted or uploaded anything.”

Some users claim that the standard fixes like restarting devices and even deleting and reinstalling the app aren’t helping. Meanwhile, other Facebook features like Messenger and the news feed continue working fine, making this even more puzzling.

The reports are coming in fast (1,2,3,4,5,6) since the bug seems to have hit users in the past few hours.

Over on the WhatsApp side, the app won’t even make it past the loading screen. People are opening the app only to watch it hang on the splash screen before eventually closing itself. One user posted a screenshot showing WhatsApp stuck in this limbo state, asking if anyone else was experiencing the same thing. The answer? Plenty of others confirmed they’re dealing with identical issues.

Much like the Facebook bug, this too seems to have begun happening in the last few hours, with multiple reports (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12) popping up.

Interestingly, I couldn’t reproduce either of the two bugs on my iPhone 16 running the latest iOS 26 beta. WhatsApp works just fine, and Facebook profiles (including mine) load without any hiccups. And yes, both apps are on the latest versions available on the App Store.

P.S. It might also be possible that these issues impact some Android users, but screenshots shared online appear to be from iOS users only (at least at the time of this writing).

Before you panic thinking you’ve been banned or hacked, take a breath. If you can still access Messenger and your feed loads normally, your account is probably fine. The same goes for the WhatsApp situation. Since typical troubleshooting steps aren’t resolving either issue, this appears to be something Meta needs to fix on their end.
