Update 24/10/25 – 11:20 am (IST): A few days after the quiet release of Spotify Lossless support for Sonos speakers, Sonos has now posted an official announcement on Reddit. They even shared instructions on how to get it set up:

First, you need to enable lossless in the Spotify app. You can read how to do that here on Spotify’s own page.

Once that is done, connect to a Sonos speaker and activate lossless by adjusting the audio quality, once you are connected to a Sonos speaker. That will enable it, as seen in the GIF below 👇

Note: This setting is system wide. Once you have enabled it on one Sonos speaker, the rest will have lossless enabled as well.

Sonos users have been waiting patiently for this moment, and it looks like the wait is over. After Spotify promised that lossless support for Sonos devices would arrive in October, users are now reporting that the feature has quietly gone live.

Several Sonos owners on Reddit have confirmed they can now stream lossless audio through their speakers, with the option appearing in Spotify’s settings when connected via Spotify Connect. The rollout seems to be happening without any firmware update or official announcement, catching many users by surprise. One user with a Sonos Era 300 shared that they simply opened the Spotify app settings and found the lossless option available.

Back in September, we reported on why Spotify lossless wasn’t showing up for some users, where Spotify’s Engineering Manager mentioned that full rollout would reach eligible users by the end of October 2025. In that coverage, we also mentioned that Sonos support will be landing in October. So this has arrived right on schedule.

Getting lossless to work on Sonos requires a few steps, according to user reports. You’ll need to connect to a Sonos speaker through Spotify Connect first, then change the media quality setting to lossless within the Spotify app.

Some users found that logging out of their Sonos speakers in the Spotify app and reconnecting helped activate the feature. There have also been reports of the option being greyed out initially, but becoming available after switching between different Sonos speakers in the setup.

The feature appears to be working across various Sonos models, including older Play:1 speakers, Era 100s, Era 300s, Arc, and even the Sonos Port. Users are confirming lossless playback at up to 24-bit/44.1kHz, which matches Spotify’s maximum lossless quality. The rollout seems gradual, so if you don’t see the option yet, it should appear over the next few days.
