HomePod owners are taking to Reddit and X with complaints about Siri becoming completely unusable, and responding only with polite-but-useless phrases like “one moment,” “one sec,” “on it,” or “this is going a little too slow” before failing to complete any requests.

The problem appears to affect both regular HomePod OS 26 users and those running the 26.1 public beta. Siri refuses to do anything — whether you’re asking it to play music, control smart home devices, check the weather, or simply tell you the time. Every request ends in the same dead end.

According to posts on r/HomePod, several users have tried the usual troubleshooting steps with no luck. Resetting the device through the Home app, holding down the HomePod itself, power cycling routers, and even rebuilding entire smart home setups haven’t resolved the issue.

Over on r/HomePodOSBeta, beta testers are reporting identical symptoms, with one user noting that after “years of rock-solid performance,” their HomePods suddenly became unusable after installing the latest beta.

One X user speculated that Apple’s Siri backend (specifically mentioning seed-swallow.siri.apple.com) could be at fault, given that network troubleshooting steps haven’t helped anyone so far.

Another UK-based user warned fellow beta testers that Siri functionality is “completely broken” across both music playback and home automation.

Since the problem is affecting both the beta and stable channels, it points toward a backend connectivity issue with Apple’s servers rather than a problem with the HomePod OS itself.

It’s worth noting that, at the time of this writing, this doesn’t appear to be a widespread global outage. The reports are limited to specific Reddit communities and a handful of social media posts.

Apple hasn’t acknowledged the problem yet, and there’s no official word on when — or if — a fix is coming.

If you’re experiencing this issue with your HomePod, you’re not alone. Share your experience in the comments below and let us know whether you’re running the standard release or beta software.
