If you thought yesterday’s Pixel news drop (from fresh repair parts and the mysterious “Needlefish” prototype to Samsung promising to match Pixel’s software update policy) was a lot to process, buckle up because the past 24 hours have been just as busy in Pixel-land. From heavy discounts across the Pixel lineup to a new celebrity partnership and even a spicy comparison with Samsung, Google’s week is starting to look like one long Made by Google afterparty.

Pixel 10 gets its first big sale, and it’s not even Black Friday

Google has wasted no time joining the Prime Big Deal Days madness. For the first time since launch, the Pixel 10 series is getting a major discount on both the Google Store and Amazon.

The Pixel 10 is $100 off, the 10 Pro $150 off, and the top-tier 10 Pro XL is a juicy $200 cheaper — all before Black Friday even begins. Over on Amazon, the discounts go even deeper, with up to $250 off depending on the model.

Last year, Google waited until November to tempt buyers. But this time, it’s clearly leaning into the shopping frenzy early, maybe to keep up with the iPhone 16 buzz? Whatever the reason, if you’ve been eyeing a Pixel 10, now’s the time to strike before the sale ends October 8 at 11:59 PM PDT.

And that’s not all. The Pixel 9 lineup is also seeing some serious markdowns, with up to $350 off depending on where you shop. Even the Pixel Tablet has dropped to $279 on Google Store and $249 on Amazon, which matches its lowest-ever price. Add to that the Pixel Buds Pro 2 and Google TV Streamer discounts, and it’s a full-blown Pixel shopping spree.

Samsung’s Routines show up Pixel Rules

Now, while Pixel fans were celebrating the sales, Android Authority threw a little shade. One of their writers switched from a Galaxy S24 Ultra to a Pixel 10 Pro and realized just how much they missed Samsung Routines, the automation feature that lets Galaxy users set complex triggers and actions across devices.

By comparison, Pixel Rules look like the kid’s menu version of automation. You can only trigger them by location or Wi-Fi and toggle basic sound modes. And that’s about it.

Samsung Routines, on the other hand, has 46 trigger categories and 35 action categories, and even lets you combine multiple actions for one event. It’s like Tasker baked right into your phone. It’s an honest critique, especially since Google keeps touting “ambient intelligence” as its grand vision. If the Pixel is meant to anticipate your needs, Pixel Rules could definitely use a little more… rule-breaking.

Google shows off new Pixel 10 photo tricks

Over on the official Keyword blog, Google shared five new tools for getting that perfect group shot on the Pixel 10. Highlights include:

  • Auto Best Take, which uses AI to pick the perfect face from up to 150 frames.
  • Add Me, so the photographer can finally be in the shot too.
  • Camera Coach, a Gemini-powered guide that gives real-time framing tips.
  • Palm Timer, for hands-free group selfies.
  • And Conversational Editing, where you can literally tell Photos what you want fixed — “remove the tree behind us” or “add a rainbow.”

In short, Pixel 10 continues to flex its AI smarts where it counts — the camera.

Alex Cooper joins Team Pixel

And in true Google fashion, the company capped the day with a splashy new collaboration with Alex Cooper, the powerhouse behind Call Her Daddy and founder of Unwell.

The long-term partnership sees Cooper’s Unwell Creative Agency working closely with Google to produce creator-driven content using Pixel phones, Workspace, and Gemini. Their first campaign, “Get Lost,” stars SNL’s Aidy Bryant and The White Lotus’ Sabrina Impacciatore in a chaotic road trip spot that’s as unhinged as it is fun.

As part of the partnership, Cooper’s team will use Pixel devices to shoot, edit, and publish content on the go — a real-world showcase of Google’s hardware-meets-software ecosystem.

From wallet-friendly Pixel deals to feature-packed camera updates and a celebrity partnership that screams creator culture meets AI, it’s been another big day for Google’s hardware and ecosystem. So, if yesterday’s “Pixel repair parts and Needlefish leak” update was about the nuts and bolts, today’s feels like the celebration that follows, complete with a party invite, a photo booth, and a discount code.
