Facebook users across platforms are getting hit with a one-two punch of frustrating changes to their group experience. Reports started flooding in yesterday about the complete removal of chronological post sorting from the mobile app, leaving thousands unable to view the newest content first. Meanwhile, iPhone 17 users are dealing with a separate but equally maddening bug where images refuse to load in buy/sell groups.

The chronological sorting drama began when users noticed their trusty three-line menu option had vanished overnight. Rhonda Bloch shared their frustration in a group, writing: “Infuriating! There’s no way to sort the posts in the group! They used to be in chronological order so when I looked everything I saw posted would be new. Now it is just random post next to some random post from months ago I’ve already seen!”

What makes this particularly painful is that the option still exists on desktop browsers, but has completely disappeared from the Android and iOS Facebook apps. Here are some screenshots shared by users showing the before and after:

Reddit user Beautiful_Snow9851 asked if this was “a bug or a new ‘feature’ to make Facebook even more useless?” The answer appears to be the latter, with multiple users confirming this seems intentional rather than accidental.

Group administrators are especially frustrated since they can’t easily monitor new posts anymore. User Potential-Lake-8215 on Reddit explained: “I am a Moderator for one group and Administrator for another 2. I cannot now see the newest posts in the group I moderate.” Another admin, Odd_Balance6762, worried about changing default settings because “important posts with lots of member participation will get lost.”

The workarounds people have discovered are clunky at best. Some users found success with Facebook Lite, though that stopped working for others. Reddit user Timjpe suggested searching within groups and filtering by “most recent,” but that’s hardly a proper solution for daily browsing.

While Android users wrestle with sorting problems, iPhone 17 users face a completely different headache. Multiple users reported that images simply won’t load in buy/sell groups and Marketplace, making these commerce-focused spaces basically unusable. Reddit user Fauxparty described the problem: “I can’t see any images in Buy/Sell groups or Marketplace on the FB app, though it all works fine in Safari.”

The image bug seems tied specifically to the iPhone 17 series, with users upgrading from iPhone 15 models suddenly losing the ability to see photos, prices, and other crucial selling information. User Steven5545 went nuclear, completely restoring their phone without using a backup, but the problem persisted. As Fauxparty put it: “Yeah I can only see the text and nothing else; not super helpful on sneaker groups, cause it’s just ‘Bought from footlocker, have receipts’.”

These problems are part of Facebook’s troubling pattern of removing core features. Just a couple of week ago, Facebook quietly removed the posts search filter, making it nearly impossible to find specific content within the platform. Add in the ongoing Android app glitch that breaks group search functionality, and you have a social media platform systematically dismantling the tools people actually use.

For now, users are stuck reporting these issues through Facebook’s built-in feedback system, hoping the social media giant will restore chronological sorting to mobile apps and fix the iPhone 17 image loading problem. Until then, many are questioning whether Facebook groups remain worth the hassle when basic functionality keeps disappearing without warning.
