PlayStation gamers found themselves locked out of their consoles for several hours as Remote Play services went dark across multiple platforms. Social media quickly lit up with frustrated users unable to connect to their PS4 and PS5 systems remotely.
Reddit user liizzybugg kicked off discussions in r/remoteplay with a simple plea: “all i want to do is play persona 5 for my best friend but i can’t. what is sony’s problem.” The post sparked immediate responses from other affected users, with One-Maximum-9648 echoing similar frustrations about streaming games to friends.
Over on X, complaints are popping up every few minutes. @DustinStimac directly tagged PlayStation support, noting the service “isn’t working on any of my devices,” while @tczajkow33 called it an “URGENT issue” affecting his gaming league recruitment. @Lord_Bloodstone criticized Sony for failing to acknowledge the problem after “over 12 hours since remote play went down.”
Some have even shared screenshots of the error they get when trying to access the service:
The outage appears particularly problematic for PlayStation Portal owners, who rely exclusively on Remote Play functionality. Reddit user Unhappy-Order-7650 expressed frustration about buying the device on Friday only to encounter server issues, adding that Sony’s live chat support blamed hardware rather than acknowledging server problems.
Sony has yet to publicly address the outage or provide an estimated time for restoration. Remote Play allows users to stream games from their PlayStation consoles to phones, tablets, PCs, and the PlayStation Portal handheld device.
We’ll keep an eye out for any further developments and will update this article when there’s something to share.
Developing…..
