Update 15/09/25 – 10:47 am (IST): The Starlink site now displays a banner on top noting, “Starlink is currently experiencing degraded service. Our team is investigating.”
Original article follows:
If your Starlink just died, you’re not alone. A massive outage is hitting users worldwide right now.
Reports are flooding in from frustrated users across multiple continents, all experiencing the same problem. From California to Australia, from Mexico to Germany, people are finding themselves completely offline. The outage appears to be hitting pretty much everywhere Starlink operates.
Downdetector shows over 13,000 reports from users claiming the service is completely down.
Meanwhile, people have also taken to X and Reddit to complain about the outage. We’re seeing hundreds of reports flooding the platforms.
Users from Washington, Wyoming, Idaho, and Michigan have all chimed in to confirm they’re experiencing problems. One person in the Pacific Northwest mentioned their service went down briefly but came back up quickly, though most others aren’t so lucky.
One user even shared a screenshot of the events log, which clearly shows a network interruption.
Some speculate it could be due to a geomagnetic storm, but the actual reason could be something else entirely.
The outage is making headlines in Ukraine as well due to the critical role Starlink is playing in the ongoing Ukraine-Russia war:
⚡️ BREAKING: Starlink 'down across the entire front line' in Ukraine as internet service suffers global outage
— The Kyiv Independent (@KyivIndependent) September 15, 2025
The service has become vital for hospitals, schools, and front-line military units across Ukraine.https://t.co/4O2tJM2f1Y
No word yet from SpaceX or Starlink’s official channels about what’s causing the problem or when service might return. Users will likely have to wait it out and hope their connections come back online soon.
This outage comes hot on the heels of an outage that struck a few weeks ago, which disrupted services. SpaceX also just hit a massive milestone with its 300th Starlink launch, so this unexpected downtime is definitely a bummer.
