Google’s latest Pixel 10 Pro comes bundled with a generous 12-month AI Pro subscription, but good luck actually claiming it. What should have been a straightforward perk has turned into a frustrating treasure hunt that’s left countless users scratching their heads and flooding support channels with complaints.

The problems start with Google’s terrible discoverability. The company seems to have gone out of its way to hide the offer from users who rightfully deserve it. Unlike typical promotional banners or clear notifications, this freebie is buried deep within settings menus where most people would never think to look.

Users across Reddit are reporting the same maddening experience: clicking “check offers” only to see “none available” despite owning eligible devices. The issue appears particularly widespread in the UK, though it’s not limited to any single region. One frustrated user noted they successfully claimed the Pixel 9 Pro offer last year but can’t access the new one, while others who jumped straight from older Pixels to the 10 series find themselves equally locked out.

The confusion gets worse when you dig into eligibility requirements. I’ve read some reports from outlets stating that AI Pro subscribers aren’t eligible, but that’s simply misleading. Even existing AI Pro subscribers can claim this, as mentioned in Google’s documentation. Artem Russakovskii posted about it too, confirming that current subscribers don’t need to cancel their plans before upgrading.

The official terms clearly state that existing Google One members with paid or trial AI Pro subscriptions can redeem the offer. Yet support representatives seem to be giving contradictory information, with some telling users that YouTube Premium subscriptions disqualify them while others say the opposite.

The actual redemption process, when it works, requires navigating to either the Gemini app or Google One settings and hunting for hidden options. In the Gemini app, users need to tap their profile icon and select “Upgrade to Gemini Advanced” if no banner appears. For the Google One app, the magic words are buried under Settings > “Check for offers.” It’s hardly intuitive for what should be an automatic benefit.

A product expert on Google’s community forums also made a handy video guide for users to follow. You can watch it below:

The AI Pro plan includes 2TB of cloud storage, advanced Gemini features across Google’s ecosystem, and NotebookLM access. For a device that costs over $1,000, buyers reasonably expect promised perks to work without jumping through hoops or contacting support multiple times.

For now, affected users have limited options. Keep checking the hidden menus periodically, as some report offers appearing without warning. Open support tickets if you’re confident about your eligibility, though prepare for potentially contradictory responses. Document your purchase date and device model, as you’ll likely need this information multiple times.

Feel free to let us know if these steps helped or not. And in case you stumbled on some additional details that could be useful to others, you can mention that too. Thanks in advance!
