New Pixel 10 owners are running into some pretty annoying Google Wallet headaches that’re making the switch from their old phones more frustrating than expected. Multiple users have taken to Reddit and Google’s support forums with complaints about their inability to add credit and debit cards to Google Wallet, along with error messages claiming their brand-new flagship phones don’t support digital IDs.

The card-adding problems seem to be hitting a wide range of banks. Chase, Bank of America, Discover, and Credit One American Express customers have all reported similar issues when trying to set up tap-to-pay on their Pixel 10 devices. What makes this particularly weird is that these same cards worked perfectly fine on their previous Pixel phones.

One Reddit user mentioned they spent 30 minutes on the phone with their bank, only to be told there wasn’t any issue on their end. Another user tried removing their cards from their old Pixel 8 completely before attempting to add them to their new Pixel 10 Pro, but still couldn’t get things working.

Some folks have found temporary workarounds that work for certain people but not others. Disconnecting from WiFi, clearing the Google Wallet app’s cache and storage, or even waiting a day or two has helped some users get their cards added successfully. But these solutions aren’t consistent, leaving many still stuck without their payment methods.

The ID verification issue adds another layer of problems for users trying to add their driver’s licenses to Google Wallet. People from Iowa, California, and other states are seeing error messages saying “this device doesn’t support IDs” when attempting to add their digital licenses.

This is especially puzzling since these same IDs worked fine on their previous Pixel devices. One post has 78 votes from people claiming to be stuck in the same situation.

Interestingly, someone noted they could add their driver’s license by selecting “Everything else” at the bottom of the wallet setup instead of choosing the specific ID option.

These Google Wallet problems join a growing list of early bugs that Pixel 10 users have encountered. Just today, we highlighted reports of weird screen glitches affecting their displays. Yesterday brought reports of scrolling stutter issues and Galaxy Watch 8 pairing problems. Last week, we covered several other early bugs that have been cropping up since the phone’s release.

Google’s support team appears to be aware of the Google Wallet issues, with some users reporting their cases have been escalated to specialist teams. However, the usual “you’ll hear back in 24-48 hours” response hasn’t yielded concrete solutions yet. For now, affected users are stuck playing the waiting game while hoping future updates will fix these payment and ID verification headaches.
