Pixel users are starting to see the latest monthly software update for July 2025 arrive on their devices. Google announced that the rollout has begun in phases and will continue over the next week. This update, bearing the build number BP2A.250705.008, covers a wide range of Pixel models, from the Pixel 6a all the way up to the newest Pixel 9 series, including the Pixel Fold and Pixel Tablet.

Among the improvements, the update aims to enhance the visual experience, particularly in apps like Android Auto, promising smoother interactions. Additionally, a fix to boost Wi-Fi connectivity stability and performance in certain situations is also part of this release. These specific improvements are slated for the Pixel 6a, Pixel 7, 7 Pro, 7a, Pixel 8, 8 Pro, 8a, Pixel Fold, Pixel Tablet, Pixel 9, 9 Pro, 9 Pro XL, and 9a.

Good news for those who have been grappling with lockscreen issues since the Android 16 update. Reports suggest that a fix for these troublesome bugs is also rolling out. Many users experienced problems like tap-to-wake not working, inconsistent screen brightness, and unresponsive fingerprint scanners. A Google spokesperson reportedly confirmed to Android Authority and 9to5Google that a solution has begun deploying automatically, so users should not need to do anything to receive it. This automatic fix is certainly a welcome relief for affected Pixel owners.

It is worth noting that while many users are receiving this update, the size of the download can vary. If you’re one of the many wondering why some users are getting it as a massive update in GBs while others, like me, received the standard update in MBs, I’ve written an explainer on our sister site TechIssuesToday that you can check out.

For Pixel 6a owners, this July update also marks the beginning of the Battery Performance Program. This program is a mandatory update to Android 16 for all Pixel 6a devices. While all 6a units will get this update, the battery management features will only activate for “Impacted Devices” and specifically after they reach 400 charge cycles. These measures are designed to mitigate potential battery overheating risks, and Google has outlined support options for eligible users, including free battery replacements.
