Google is rolling out a new feature for Pixel phone users that makes exploring Emoji Kitchen combinations much easier. The latest Gboard update introduces a dedicated “Browse” function that allows users to scroll through the vast library of emoji mashups without having to guess which combinations work together.
The update, which is part of the stable Gboard 15.1 release (spotted by 9to5Google), brings a refreshed design to the Emoji Kitchen interface. When using the emoji keyboard in compatible text fields, users will now notice a slightly smaller Emoji Kitchen carousel with a new arrow icon replacing the settings gear at the end.
Tapping this arrow opens the new Browse view, which displays a grid of Emoji Kitchen combinations. Users can scroll through countless creative emoji mashups and pull down to refresh for even more options. When you find a combination you like, simply tap it to see which two emoji were used to create it, then hit “Send” to add it to your message.
For users who want to explore specific emoji combinations, there’s a floating action button in the bottom-right corner that opens the standard emoji picker. After selecting an emoji, the Browse view will display all possible combinations featuring that character.
I tested this new feature on my Pixel 8, and it makes discovering new emoji combinations much more intuitive than before. Rather than guessing which emoji might work together, you can now browse through pre-made combinations and find exactly what you’re looking for.
This Emoji Kitchen Browse feature is exclusive to Pixel phones and tablets. It was initially announced back in December 2024 as part of a quarterly Feature Drop and has been in beta testing for several months before this wider rollout.
Pixel users should check for Gboard updates to access this new feature. With the expanded browsing capabilities, creating unique emoji expressions is now easier than ever for Pixel owners.
