Google’s Pixel 9 series made waves earlier this year with its Call Notes feature, an AI tool that records calls, generates summaries, and creates full transcripts of conversations. Now, it looks like the company is testing a small but practical upgrade to make this feature even better.
According to an exclusive report from Android Authority, code found in the latest beta version of Google’s Phone app suggests the tech giant is working on letting users copy and share entire call transcripts. Right now, Pixel 9 owners can share audio recordings of calls or brief summaries, but the full text of a conversation isn’t shareable. The new option would change that, offering a clearer way to pass along details from important calls.
The discovery comes from an APK teardown, a process where experts dig into app code to spot unreleased features. Android Authority’s AssembleDebug found strings of code tied to the internal name “Fermat,” known to be linked to Call Notes. These strings mention buttons for copying and sharing call transcripts, hinting at the upcoming tools. While the code doesn’t confirm when the feature might arrive, it shows Google is actively expanding what Call Notes can do.
For now, Call Notes remains a Pixel 9 exclusive. It’s different from Google’s older Call Screening tool, which shows real-time transcriptions for spam calls. Call Notes goes further by saving transcripts and summaries for any call a user chooses to record. The ability to share those transcripts could be a game-changer for anyone needing to quickly send meeting notes, delivery instructions, or medical advice to others without typing them out manually.
Google has been careful about call recording features in the past, partly due to legal gray areas in some regions. Call Notes sidesteps this by requiring consent from both parties before recording. Adding transcript sharing would build on that foundation, giving users more control over their data.
As with any APK teardown, there’s no guarantee this feature will launch. But the evidence points to Google refining one of the Pixel 9’s standout tools. If it rolls out, the update could make Call Notes an even more useful feature for those who rely on it.
