Google has just released its February 2025 update for Pixel devices, and with it comes a much-needed fix for the Bluetooth audio issues plaguing Android Auto users. Since the December Feature Drop, Pixel owners have been dealing with silent car speakers, even as their screens showed audio should be playing. Now, as we had expected, the relief is here as the update promises to restore sound to the system.
The problem affected a wide range of Pixel models, from the Pixel 6 to the latest Pixel 9 series, impacting both wired and wireless connections. Users experienced frustration as they tried to enjoy music from services like Spotify and YouTube Music, only to meet with silence.
According to the official changelog, the update includes a “fix for an issue with audio output in Android Auto under certain conditions.” This update targets all supported Pixel devices, ensuring that whether you’re using a Pixel 6 or the newest Pixel 9 Pro Fold, you’ll benefit from the fix.
In addition to the audio fix, Google says it has also addressed Bluetooth connectivity issues that occasionally prevented connections with certain devices or accessories. This fix, however, is only applicable to the Pixel 9 series.
To get the update, look out for the system update notification or just check for it manually. Google suggests the rollout will continue over the next week, depending on carrier and device specifics.
Let’s hope the apparent fix actually does the job and sticks. Feel free to let us know if this update addressed the problem for you in the comments below.
