A growing number of users are reporting issues with alarms either not ringing, vibrating instead of playing sound, or just skipping altogether. If you’re a Pixel owner, you might want to double-check your wake-up routine.
I noticed this myself yesterday on my Pixel 7a. I had a recurring alarm set, but it didn’t go off at all. I saw the “Upcoming Alarm” notification earlier, but when the time came, nothing happened. Interestingly, I haven’t been able to replicate the same thing again, so I’m unsure if that was a one-off glitch or if it’ll catch me by surprise again.
Many others have shared similar experiences. One Reddit user with a Pixel 8a said their alarm, which had always worked, didn’t fire. They got the same “Missed Alarm” notification. Another user with a Pixel 8 Pro woke up to find their alarms were skipped, despite being notified beforehand about the upcoming alarm. Over on Google’s support forums, I noticed a comment by a user who reported the same problem on two separate Pixel phones.
Some users think this could be related to the January update, but there’s no official confirmation yet. A few have tried troubleshooting with mixed results. Some cleared the alarm app’s cache, reset settings, or restarted their phones, but the problems often returned. Others suspect the alarm volume is dropping unexpectedly or certain third-party apps are malfunctioning after the update.
Some also mention alarms only vibrating or playing at a very low volume, despite normal sound settings. That said, I want to hear from you. Have you noticed any issues with your Pixel’s alarm since the update? Or is everything working as expected? Vote in our poll below and share your experiences in the comments.
In the meantime, it might be worth setting a backup alarm on a different device — just in case. Missing an alarm can be more than an inconvenience, especially if it makes you late for work or an important event.
