Google seems to have finally rolled out Nest Camera Live View for Pixel Watch 2. Originally launched as a highlight feature for the Pixel Watch 3, this update makes it possible for owners of the previous generation to view their Nest Camera feeds directly on their wrist. The change is part of Google’s December feature drop, delivered through Play Services updates, rather than the usual Wear OS security patches.
Pixel Watch 2 users have confirmed that they can now monitor Nest Cameras and Doorbells from their watch, giving them a handy way to check on their homes without pulling out their phones. It works with most Nest Cameras and Doorbells released since 2021, provided they’re linked to the Google Home app. You can zoom in, pan around, and even use the watch’s dial to control the view.
This unexpected update has sparked some discussion online. On Reddit, users are sharing their experiences. While many are thrilled, some have reported delays of 5–8 seconds for the live view to load — possibly due to slower internet speeds. Others are disappointed that Nest Doorbells, especially older models, aren’t compatible yet. There’s also some confusion about the rollout timing, as many assumed this feature would arrive with the March 2025 update.
For Pixel Watch 2 owners, it’s a welcome surprise that keeps the device feeling fresh. If you were considering jumping to the Pixel Watch 3 just for this feature, you might want to hold off. While some features will likely stay exclusive to newer hardware, Google is clearly investing in improving its existing lineup. It’s unclear if the feature has also made its way to the Pixel Watch 1 since we’ve not been able to find any reports from users about the feature’s availability.
If you have a Pixel Watch 2, open your Google Home app and give the live view a try. Whether it’s for keeping an eye on your front door or checking on your pets, it’s a handy update that adds more value to your watch. But this isn’t the only Pixel Watch 3 feature that has tricked down to Pixel Watch 1 – 2 users. Cardio Load and Target Load have also made their way to the older watches.
