If you’ve been thinking about upgrading to a new phone, Google’s latest trade-in deal makes the Pixel 9 Pro and Pro XL look more tempting than ever. In a move to counter Samsung’s early Black Friday offers, Google has boosted trade-in values when purchasing one of the new Pixel 9 models directly from their store.
The maximum value you can get for your existing smartphone is $720 for the Pixel 9 Pro and $760 for the Pixel 9 Pro XL, although unsurprising, this might not be the best trade-in deal in terms of value. Why? Well, it’s because this seems to be only applicable to the iPhone 15 Pro Max. The Galaxy S24 Ultra will also bag you $650, again, not really an ideal deal in terms of value. Nevertheless, you can still score better deals with other smartphones. For instance, the Pixel 6 Pro can be traded in for a price of $450, effectively bringing down the price of the base Pixel 9 Pro to $549.
That’s a pretty sweet deal if you ask me. The Pixel 9 Pro and its larger sibling, the Pixel 9 Pro XL, boast significant improvements over last year’s models. Both feature Google’s upgraded Tensor G4 chip, better thermal management, and a refined 120Hz LTPO display for buttery-smooth scrolling. The Pro models also include some standout camera upgrades, including new AI-powered photo correction tools and enhanced zoom capabilities. With these additions, the Pixel 9 series aims to stay competitive with the latest offerings from Apple and Samsung.
The Pixel 9 Pro XL goes a step further with a larger 6.9-inch display and an even bigger battery, perfect for those who want a top-tier phone without jumping into foldable territory.
While this deal sweetens the pot, Google isn’t offering any direct discounts on the Pixel 9 phones just yet. If history is any guide, it might be worth holding off until Black Friday, when Google is expected to offer more aggressive price cuts.
That said, if you’re holding on to a Pixel 6 Pro, iPhone 13 Pro Max, or similar flagship, now might be the perfect time to swap it for a Pixel 9 Pro or Pro XL.
