Pixel fans, your wait is almost over. After a lengthy delay, Android 15 is officially rolling out to Google Pixel devices starting October 15. Yep, Google’s making us hold out a bit longer, but hey, it’s all for a good cause — squashing bugs and fine-tuning the update so your experience is smoother than ever.

According to an exclusive report by Android Headlines, Android 15 is set to roll out to Google Pixel devices on October 15. While Android 15 was pushed to AOSP back on September 3, the wait is nearly over for Pixel users eager to get their hands on the latest update.

So, why hasn’t Android 15 arrived? The delay seems to be a mix of Google’s new Pixel 9 lineup announcements happening early in August instead of the usual October and a desire to squash any lingering bugs. While Google typically drops these updates on Mondays, October 14 happens to be Columbus Day in the U.S., likely pushing the release to October 15.

This time around, Android 15 will be exclusively available for Tensor-powered Pixel devices, starting with the Pixel 6 and up. So, if you’re rocking a Pixel 5 or older, you’ll have to sit this one out. Notably, this will be the final guaranteed Android update for the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, though security updates will continue until 2026.

It’s not every day Google holds off two months after an AOSP release to drop a major Android update. But hey, we’re hoping the extra time means a smoother experience with fewer bugs.

Android 15 promises an overall improved and refined experience with plenty of AI smarts. The hope is that Google’s extra time perfecting this release will result in a polished update that doesn’t feel rushed. If all goes according to plan, Pixel users can look forward to hitting the update button and diving into a fresh new Android experience in less than a month.
